Ingredients
for 1 serving
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 cup fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked through
Preparation
- Place the water and ½ cup of the sugar in a small pot. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 3–5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture thickens slightly. Add the cranberries, and stir to coat thoroughly. Remove from heat, and let stand for 1 minute.
- Transfer the coated cranberries to a wire rack. Let stand at room temperature, undisturbed, for about 1 hour, or until the syrup on the berries becomes tacky.
- Place the remaining ½ cup sugar in a bowl. Working in batches, add the cranberries to the sugar, and toss to fully coat. Serve.
- Enjoy!
- The candied cranberries can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to about 20 hours (afterwards, they’ll lose their crunch!).
