If You're A New Grad Intimidated By Having To Cook Every Night, These 10 Tips Are For You

Adulthood is stressful, but cooking doesn't have to be.

Becoming an adult can be a rough transition, especially when you realize you have to figure out what to make for dinner every night until you die. Being responsible for grocery shopping and cooking can be one of the most challenging aspects of growing up, whether you've recently graduated or are otherwise living independently for the first time.

I've been there and am ready to give you my best tips for saving time, energy, and money when it comes to grocery shopping and cooking in this new phase of life.

Most of these tips pertain to dinner, since that's typically the most challenging meal to make. However, if you like making more complex breakfasts and lunches, they could apply there too.

1. Shop at budget grocery stores.

2. Grocery shop and cook with your roommates.

3. Simplify your meals (but add a good sauce).

4. Take pictures of the meals you've made.

5. Cook from one particular source.

6. Don't feel like you need fancy appliances to cook.

7. That being said, invest in a few time-saving tools.

8. Learn what you can substitute and omit.

9. Leftovers > meal prep.

10. Learn how to make your childhood favorites.
